Hey there Hikers,

Another month has flown by, and spring is in full bloom here in the park. The carriage roads are back open, the fiddleheads are starting to push up through the soil, and the blackfly larvae are preparing to make our lives miserable for the next few months. It’s a great time of year to explore — the weather is warming, and the summer crowds haven’t yet begun to arrive. Best of all, this year I’ll actually be able to enjoy it.

I’ve recently decided to make a big change and leave the company I’ve worked at for almost 20 years in pursuit of something greater — a chance to create something of my own. So what does this mean for you? First of all, it means I’ll now have more time to explore the shadows between the pines and walk the foggy coastlines in search of the stories I share with you all. I’ve also taken the first steps toward making Acadia After Dark into something more than just a podcast. More info to come on that next month.

In the meantime, I’ll be getting far more consistent with the audio content. I know I’ve been slacking on that lately, so I intend to make up for it. Expect new Fogcast episodes, as well as some of the stories I’ve been researching over the last few months, to drop imminently. Other new content on the way includes video and audio tours, lore books, and downloadable maps that will be available through our shop. And don’t forget — I’m adding new merch designs all the time, so grab something for yourself before you hit the trails this summer.

This month, I published the first paper in the Metrology and the Paranormal series I’m writing. I’m testing the waters on sharing more fieldwork now that I have the time to actually get out there.

Also in April, we launched our Patreon to help cover the operational costs of Acadia After Dark. The Lantern Holder tier is designed to be affordable while giving you more of the content you love. Becoming a Lantern Holder grants you access to ad‑free episodes a day earlier than on other platforms, along with extras such as digital postcards, exclusive polls, and The Lantern Logbook. If you want to support the show and independent storytelling, consider lighting your lantern today.

Not only will you be seeing more content, but I’m working hard to improve the quality of what we produce. I’ve invested in several new tools and upgrades to make Acadia After Dark the best it can be. You’ll see what I mean very soon.

In other news, I’ve secured my ticket to the International Cryptozoology Museum’s Grand Opening Reception in July. I’m looking forward to seeing the new space and hanging out with fellow cryptozoology enthusiasts. If you’re planning on attending, hit me up on social media and let me know.

Fort Knox opens May 1st, which means 207 Paranormal will be hosting their ghost tours again. Bar Harbor Ghost Tours will also be starting back up soon, so there will be plenty of opportunities to experience some of Maine’s mysteries for yourself.

That about wraps it up for this month’s newsletter. If you’re on the trails, keep an eye out — the spring thaw tends to reveal things the snow obscures. The veil is thinning, so strengthen your wards and get those seeds started.

Keep those lanterns lit, and stay safe out there.
