This October, the Fogcast is assembling a remote panel of Maine horror authors for a special Halloween feature. A kind of digital fireside gathering for the writers who understand the darker side of this state. Maine has always had a particular gravity when it comes to horror: the long stretches of rocky coastline, the deep woods that swallow light, the small towns with long memories and dark secrets, and the folklore that lingers just beneath the surface. This panel is an opportunity to bring together the voices shaped by that landscape.
We’re inviting 7–9 Maine horror authors to join us for a conversation about craft, folklore, fear, and the strange effect Maine has on horror writing. The discussion will explore how place influences story, how local legends find their way into fiction, and why Maine continues to produce such vivid, unsettling narratives. It’s a chance for writers to compare notes, share experiences, and talk openly about the mechanics of dread and the creative process behind their work.
The panel will be recorded remotely through StreamYard, keeping the conversation engaging, spooky, and accessible. Once complete, it will be released as a Fogcast Halloween special — a feature designed for listeners who are deeply invested in regional horror, Maine storytelling, and the voices behind the work.
For authors, this is a chance to connect with fellow Maine writers, discuss your craft, and reach an audience that values the unique perspective you bring to the genre.
