Horror changes depending on where you stand. An angel to one wanderer may be a monster to another. In this episode of The Fogcast, we explore that shifting boundary with Maine‑based horror author Arwyn Sherman, whose work digs into the darkness just beyond our understanding.

Arwyn lives deep in the Maine woods, writing fiction that has appeared in anthologies, on stages, and in chapbooks passed hand‑to‑hand at late‑night poetry shows. Their debut novel, We, the Missing (Sobelo Books, 2026), follows a young woman confronting an epidemic of disappearances — a slow‑burn speculative horror built on the idea that the universe has forgotten us, and that angels may, in fact, be monsters. Arwyn also serves as co‑editor of Slugger, a magazine devoted to strange, unsettling fiction, and was recently a featured guest at the Lantern‑Lit Symposium.

Together, we talk about fear, perspective, and the stories we carry — the ones that surprise us, shape us, and sometimes haunt us more than anything on the page.
